WHO AM I?

From the visible aspects of my identity, you can see I am a woman of color. I have also been told I look young. At one point, someone said to me, “Being a young woman of color, you’ll have to work harder to achieve the same as someone who holds privileges you don't!” These experiences and messages, while difficult, have shaped me. They have helped me build courage, resilience, and compassion: qualities I carry into my work with educators.

Looking deeper into the invisible aspects of my identity, I am an educator and an advocate for children’s play. My early experiences in school helped me develop a sense of perseverance, curiosity, and a belief in the power of a growth mindset. These internal foundations continue to shape how I view teaching, learning, and leadership.

Both my visible and invisible identities influence my beliefs and values. They have grounded me in the conviction that all learners, young and adult, deserve equal opportunities for growth and development. They also fuel my belief that when we invest in teacher learning and leadership capacity, we directly and positively impact students.

These are the reasons behind my work. Supporting educators and leaders is not just what I do. It’s what gives me purpose and drives my commitment to creating better learning experiences for all.
